Team Title

A bit of time since my last post, Dan and I have been doing a lot of research into what we are getting ourselves into. There are going to be some very long days in the saddle.

I spent hours going over the route and have come up with one that I am happy with. Google Maps and Earth make it a lot easier to plan when you can see where you might be heading. Although how much has changed since those pictures were taken will be interesting to see.

As we are teaming up we had to come up with a team name and we are going by the name "Brokebutt Mountain". Entirely apt I would think.

As far as training is going, Dan has been competing in some local riding events to get back into cycling while I am still summoning up the courage to go out for some long rides. Last year I got on with it with only a few practice rides but this year I will be much more conditioned.

Finally I've put it up

I have added in my account of the Transcontinental Race from last year. It was great to go through my diary and remember some of what I had been through. It is one of the coolest experiences I have ever done.

One thing that struck me was the amount of pain that I was in, but now I can't seem to recollect it. I know that I was so tired and some days I did not want to sit in the saddle but now I just think about how I can't wait to go and do it all again in South Africa.

This time it is going to be different. I'm actually going to be doing some cycling beforehand, instead of hiking for a month then do a couple of rides before racing. I also know more about my abilities and about what I can bring with me to make my journey more successful.

A First Post

I have been wanting to start a blog for a while now and after speaking to people about some of my adventures, they want to know about what I get up to. This is also a great place from where I can show people how I get about and find myself in strange situations.

I'm going to start off with posts about adventures past, just so that I can figure out how I want this to develop and I appreciate any feedback along the way.

I have had some great times, met some awesome people and look forward to more craziness!

Cheers

Nick
